Somewhere in between these two states lays the heart of hustlers and the home of CHI-BLIZZ. Born Bruce Johnson, CHI-BLIZZ was raised on the south side of Chicago, in the infamous neighborhood of Englewood, seeing some of the worst that the south side has to offer and also some of the best. CHI-BLIZZ was always surrounded by music, growing up in a household where it seemed music was the only escape from the day to day violence and turmoil that life came with. CHI-BLIZZ starting rapping at the age of 13, but it wasnt until the age of 19 that CHI-BLIZZ knew that this was his calling.
As many rappers, CHI-BLIZZ, embodied the spirit of a street hustler, doing what he had to do to make ends meet and make the money he needed to start his rap career. However, he has always felt the tug of the love for his music. In 2001, CHI-BLIZZ sought out an opportunity to work for a local radio station that would be later known as POWER 92. Here CHI-BLIZZ would use his hard work ethics and excel from a board operator to being one of the top rated weekend personalities in the Chicago and Northwest Indiana area! Being put in this position, has learned from the best in both radio and in music. Because of this determination, CHI-BLIZZ has built an undeniable strong fan base, allowing him to gain the hearts of his listeners and the respect of the Chicago artists.
In 2004, CHI-BLIZZ teamed up with manager Maurice L. Dortch and producer Lenny Hooks to create Go-Town Entertainment Group, an entertainment company that promises to take the Chicago entertainment industry to the status of New York and California. In the same year, CHI-BLIZZ began working on what some have called a creative masterpiece, THE CHICAGO WAY, housing some impressive production courtesy of Chicagos hottest producers including SC (produced for The Game, Mobb Deep) and Vudu (produced for Ludacris, Chingy, Feva). Guest appearance include Chicagos hottest up and coming recording artist including Virgin Record Recording Artist, Mikkey, Spree Is Real, WGCI's Teefa, formally of Infamous Syndicate, and legendary Chicago crooner Johnny P.
This year, 2006, CHI-BLIZZ has stepped his game up working with new producers and old ones, putting more of his heart and soul in his music.
In an industry that seems to be polluted, CHI-BLIZZ is a breathe of fresh air for the rap game and is clearly on the road to being one of Chicagos legends. It finally looks like Chicago has a new back to rest on!
